Summary: This is the final installment of Tahereh Mafi’s series and it was a wild ride. We left off on he fifth book with Warner’s proposal to marriage and the return of eveyone to a secret hideout from the Reestablishment. As soon as the book begins, drama unfolds as Juliette is facing pain and weird dreams, almost as if her sister is attempting to contact her. She faints and soon is kidnapped by the Reestablishment. It is now up to Warner and Kenji to get her back before Juliette becomes a weapon of mass destruction and the effects of their control is permanent.
What I liked.
- Warner: He will always be my reasoning for reading and loving this series. He is such a deep and complex character that never fails to have me shook.
- kenji: Kenji was kind and considerate of everyone and brought comedic relief
- Writing style: Mafi is very poetic and lyrical when she wants and this novel definitely utilizes those skills
- The plot: The plot was crazy and unexpected and had me engaged from the moment I got into it.
What I didnt Like
- Juliette is the main character yet she is not mentioned or given lines. I almost seems as she is powerless regardless of the 5 books of character development
- The ending was odd and the victory of the Rebels seemed too easy and unrealistic
- Much of the world building did not make sense and or was overlooked
- These new books had a lot of repetitive plot lines starting from Anderson coming back from the dead to offer absolutely nothing to the story to both Defy Me and Imagine Me being rescue mission books and revolving around Juliette losing her memories and getting them back.
- We were given the epilogue, this book didn’t really feel like a last book. There are so many things that were left unaddressed, and I know that the author said that she doesn’t write very long books but if Imagine Me hadn’t been another rescue mission book, I feel like those things could’ve been addressed.
Would I reccomend?
Yes. Regardless of everything, it was entertaining and heart breaking
